Peter Parker
Peter Parker is a biographer, critic, and cultural historian whose work explores literature, sexuality, and British social life. He is the author of acclaimed biographies of J. R. Ackerley and Christopher Isherwood, as well as The Old Lie, The Last Veteran, Housman Country, and A Little Book of Latin for Gardeners. His two-volume anthology Some Men in London: Queer Life, 1945–1959 and 1960–1967 offers a vivid portrait of gay men’s lives from post-war repression to partial legal reform. Parker has written widely for major newspapers and magazines on books, art, architecture, and gardening, and is an advisory editor of the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography. He lives in London’s East End.
